Changing Out Your Winter Treads For Fair Weather Treads

Blog

With winter finally coming to an end, it's time to start thinking about the tires that you'll be replacing the winter treads with and what you'll be doing with the winter tires for the next several months. Here, you'll learn a few tips to help you with both.

Order Tires Online

There's no need to head out to the store to look through the piles of tires sitting around. Instead, head to your computer and start shopping online.

Online, you'll be able to compare different features, read reviews and learn more about the load size the tires can handle. A one-stop shop and research process.

Sometimes, you can reduce the cost of shipping and the trouble of transporting the tires from your home to the shop that will put them on by having the tires directly shipped to the shop. Just check with both your shop and the online tire sales company to learn if this is an option for you to consider.

Store the Winter Tires

How you store the winter tires will have a significant impact on how well they hold up while they're not being used.

First, get the tires cleaned up. If you're storing the tires on the wheels, clean the wheels up as well. The cleaner you can get everything, the less likely there is to be any damage when fall wraps up this year.

If the tires are being stored on wheels, fill the tires with the maximum pressure. Air will slowly leak out over the next several months, so filling them fully will allow for air loss without them going flat enough to cause damage.

Once the tires are clean and dry, get some plastic garbage bags. Put each tire in a bag on its own and close it up tightly.

Store the tires in an area that isn't exposed to sunlight, insane heat or excessive moisture. If you don't have a space in your garage or shed that is suitable to store the tires, check into storage units around your home. You can lease a small unit to store the tires and the other winter supplies that you have stacked up in your garage.

Start by shopping around and finding the tires that will provide you with the traction and control that you need. Then, follow through with the next steps and get your tires put on, store your winter treads and be ready for some summer fun in the sun.

what does the oil light on your car mean?

You know that little light that looks like an oil can coming on is a bad thing? Well, my daughter apparently didn't know that it meant that you should stop driving the car and get it into a repair shop immediately. My daughter continued to drive the car without telling me that that little light was on. She said that she thought that it was on for about three weeks before her car died along the road. What damage does that cause? How expensive are those repairs? Visit through our blog of repairing the vehicle that was once perfect but died because that little light was ignored.
